Rogue Luna
"I know you are my mate when I saw you." The Alpha said, "Why did you run away from me?"
"Because I don't need a mate to force me into a life I don't want." I said.
"You won't even give me a chance to show you the type of person I am?!" He screamed at me.
He was right, I didn't. But I didn't want him to show me. I just want to stay free and independent.
"I don't care what you're going to do, I will do whatever it takes to keep you here with me." He said angrily and left the room.
Book 1 Chapter 1
I ran in a circle to make sure they wouldn't follow my smell. Once I was sure they wouldn't be able to track me down I shifted into my human form and quickly got changed. I grabbed my back pack and climbed up a tree. I soon saw a group of wolves running after me and tracking my scent.
'How long are you going to keep running?'
I rolled my eyes. My wolf spirit and I have had this argument so many times it's starting to get old. I ignored her and rested up in a tree. I watched as the wolves ran around trying to follow my scent. I was a rogue and packs thought of rogues as a threat so they hunted them down. I have been a rogue for years ever since I ran away from home because of the death of my parents. All I ever knew was how to take care of myself, forced to rely on myself and realize my independence. Now I was used to the life of being on my own, constantly moving around. The idea of a pack life bored me and I had no interest in it. It took me a long time to convince my wolf, one thing we disagreed on was a mate.
I hated the fact that I would eventually find my mate and therefore I would no longer be independent, I would need my other half in order to survive, it was like the moment a wolf finds their mates their entire ideals change and they become so dependent on that person it's almost sickening. My wolf on the other hand couldn't wait to find her mate.
"Once we find our mate, your carefree, independent days are over."
I huffed loudly at her words. Apparently I made too much noise because the wolf below me looked up to see me in the tree and howled.
He was calling on his pack.
I remained frozen in the tree, unsure of what to do as I watched more wolves approach the tree I was in. They growled up at me. Then they started kicking the tree with their hind legs, trying to shake me out of it. I did the only possible choice I could think of in this moment, I jumped out the tree and shifted into my white wolf which shredded my clothes. When I landed roughly on the ground I grabbed my backpack in my mouth and ran as fast as I could. I looked back to see the wolves right on my tail. As I turned back around to watch my surroundings I slammed head first into something hard blocking my way. I looked up to see a giant midnight wolf growling at me.
My wolf whispered Alpha.
She wanted to bow to him but I refused. I noticed the rest of the wolves circled around me so I couldn't escape. I watched as the black wolf walked behind a tree and shifted. He came back and I had to stop my jaw from dropping. He was so gorgeous. He was wearing black jeans, a slightly tight white shirt that hid his muscular chest. He had tanned olive skin that glimmered under the sun. His hair was dark brown and messy in a sexy way almost as if he didn't even try to style it at all. His facial features were sharp and defined and his eyes were a smaller more intimidating shape. His nose was sharp as well even though it had a slight bump at the top, signifying that it might have been broken in the past. The only thing I refused to look at were his eyes.
"Shift rogue and then explain why you are traveling so close to our pack." He said in an Alpha tone.
I saw no point of escape, no matter what I did there were wolves blocking all means of an escape so I went behind a tree and shifted. I grabbed clothes out of my bag and changed. When I walked back I didn't dare look the Alpha in the eye. I always avoided looking male wolves in the eye because the eyes were like windows to the soul, the moment you looked into the right person or in my case the wrong persons eyes you instantly knew that they were your other half and I refused to be tied down by such an idea.
"What is your name and why are you traveling so close to my territory?" He stood over me in such a intimidating and towering demeanor.
I chose to ignore him and didn't dare look up at him.
" Look at me when I'm talking to you!" He snapped.
'Just look up at him Iris' My wolf begged me with desperation. It was almost as if she knew something I didn't.
He grabbed my chin and roughly yanked my head up. I felt an electric sensation as he grabbed my face and the moment I looked into his eyes I knew he was mine and I was his, our souls were intertwined and we belonged to each other. Emotions and sensations began to swirl throughout my body that I wanted to reject but for some reason I couldn't look away from those deep baby blue eyes.
"Mine" he growled in satisfaction.
Book 1 Chapter 2—02
My wolf was absolutely exhilarated to have finally met our soul mate, a part of me was relieved and equally excited but I also was not ready to give up my life of freedom and independency for my mate and even worse was that he was an Alpha. Alpha's were notorious for being extremely territorial and controlling of their mates, some people dreamt to have an Alpha mate, but I was not one of those people.
"NOOOO!!" I screamed and shifted. I wasn't concerned with the fact that I just shredded my clothes all I cared about was escaping from this nightmare. Before my mother died she always told me that ai was different and special from other wolves, one reason was because I had Alpha blood in me so my wolf was twice the size of the average wolf, the other reason she never really told me. I aggressively shoved a wolf that happened to be in front of me out of the way and darted away from the group.
As I made my escape all I could focus on was the whimpering and whining of my wolf spirit begging for me to go back to our mate, to not run away from him and just accept him but I couldn't do that, it was asking me of too much. Not only did it mean to give up my lone freedom and become the leader of a pack but it also meant putting my trust into someone that I didn't know, I couldn't trust anyone. I felt something slam hard into my side knocking me head first into a nearby tree where I soon noticed stampeding steps coming towards me before finally slipping into unconsciousness.
I woke up gasping for air as I immediately sat up and began surveying my surroundings. The sun was shining through the window and I noticed I was in someone's bedroom. It was such an enormous room and it had a lingering familiar sent that seemed to calm my senses and bring tranquility to my mind. I surveyed the room, it didn't seem very personalized, it was just a white room with dark oak furniture such as a wardrobe, end tables on either side of this Queen bed which also had a dark oak frame to it. I bunched up the blanket around me when I realized the entire time I was naked. I looked over and noticed clothes were folded neatly next to me, they looked slightly small for me but I soon began to realize that this smell that was calming me was the scent of my mate and this must have been his room I was in. I quickly scurried to put the clothes on and hurried to the door where I realized I was locked inside. I began panicking, past traumas began to arise in my mind, images and memories of unpleasant moments began to fill me and before I knew it a gush of energy seemed to swell in my bones and I took this opportunity to use it and kick the door down. It flew off of the hinges and ran out of the room and down a very long hallway where I entered what appeared to be a living room with a group of people gathered inside, looking at me with confusion and amazement.
So this must be the pack house of that Alpha which meant I was currently a rogue inside of an unknown Alpha's territory.
I continued to ignore the stares as I ran out of the pack house and my vision darted towards the entrance of the forest, past the buildings and civilization. I immediately shifted and began running towards my freedom once more, plotting my escape when I felt myself being roughly pushed off course and sent flying into the opposite direction. Slightly dazed I picked myself up off of the ground and instantly got into attack stance. My attacker was tall with jet black hair, slightly long but not as long as mine, his skin was slightly darker than the Alpha's naturally tanned and I couldn't deny that he was gorgeous, just not as gorgeous as my mate.
I couldn't believe I just said that to myself.
'Do not deny destiny, you know in your heart you wish to give our mate a chance and see the type of man he is, do not deny your attraction to him' my wolf spirit said to me.
It was times like this where she felt useless to me, separate spirits so we had separate opinions on things even though we usually agreed on the same things except for this one thing.
Mate.
"Someone call for the Alpha and tell him the rogue is attempting to escape!" My attacker said.
I didn't want to see him, I didn't want to melt at his feet just because we were destined to be together, I wanted to run away, far away so that our mate connection would severe and we would be separated for good, I knew the moment I saw him I would hesitate, I would think of how my life would possibly be if I just stay with him. I didn't want to give in.
So I snapped.
Book 1 Chapter 3—02
I charged at the man in front of my trying to hold me hostage but I pinned him to the ground, my enormous body weight on top of him, restricting him from attacking me or moving from under me. He held his arms up to shield his face but I could see in his hazel eyes the fear that clouded his mind.
I felt a warm hand comb through my fur, sending shivers of delight throughout my body. I always imagined the touch of your mate to be electrifying and magical almost, this didn't feel like it but it still felt nice. I lightly whimpered as I felt his hand travel up to my ear where he pulled on it gently and leaned forward, his breath swaying the fur around my ear.
"Could you please shift for me Love?" He whispered into my ear.
For some reason that angered me. I didn't want him calling me love. I didn't want to be called his. I wanted to be my own person. I was conflicted, I knew deep down inside I wanted to be loved, I wanted that love and affection that was stolen from me when my parents were murdered. But I didn't want to belong to anyone. I just wanted to be alone.
I turned to snap and growl in his face before facing forward to attempt to run again. I felt something grab my tail with a firm grip and pull hard to the point a shooting pain shot through my spine as I immediately sat down to relieve the pain. I whimpered in pain as I turned around to see his face.
Pain, hurt and anger were all clear on his face and for some reason it saddened me.
"Shift now!" He boomed in his Alpha tone. The Alpha tone was a special authoritative voice that only Alpha born's were able to use to control and direct their pack members, depending on how strong the Alpha was, they could even use it on those who weren't even apart of their pack.
I saw no way out for myself and my wolf was making it harder and harder for me to stay focused to plan an escape, constantly begging and whining for me to just stay. I slowly began to shift until I was left lying in the grass naked, nothing but my arms to shield me but fortunately my mate came over to drape a blanket around me so that I wasn't exposed to the elements but I didn't thank him.
"What is your name?" He asked me as I snatched the blanket form him.
I ignored him.
"Why did you run away from me?" He asked me.
I continued to ignore him.
"Answer my questions!" He yelled at me.
I looked up at him with disgust and an appalling facial expression. How dare he think he could just yell at me like I were some nobody.
"My name is Iris and I ran away from you because I don't need someone like you as my mate forcing me into a life I don't want and I won't stop until I escape." I spat up at him.
A hurt expression flashed across his face and my wolf immediately wanted me to take my words back but I was not backing now.
"I don't give a damn what you think you're going to do, I will do whatever it takes to keep you here with me." He said angrily.
He noticed I began shivering from the cold as the sun began to set and night time was beginning to dawn on us. He came over to scoop me up in his arms, I flinched at his touch at first but I couldn't help but sink into the warmth of his arms. He carried me back into the pack house but this time into a new room where he gently placed me down onto the bed and closed the door behind him.
Before either of us could say anything, there was an immediate knock on the door, my mate quickly opened the door revealing my attacker from earlier now looking furious.
"Alpha Damien is there a reason why you are keeping a dirty rogue in our pack house? Many of us were curious to know." He asked.
So my mate's name was Damien.
"There is no need to insult her Blake, she was just scared in confused so why don't you go and mind your damn business, make sure to tell the others to stay out of the Alpha's business," Damien growled.
Blake bowed and walked away. As Damien slammed the door shut he turned to me with an enraged expression to his face.
"You won't even give me a chance to show you the type of person I am, you've already decided you don't want me as a mate?! Why don't you want be my mate! Do you think out of all the beautiful she—wolves in my pack I would pick a possibly dangerous rogue like you?!" He screamed at me.
He turned around walked out the room and slammed the door shut before I could even get a word in. He was upset and he was right, I didn't even give him a chance to show me the kind of person he truly was but I didn't want him to show me, I just wanted to be alone, something inside me told me that I deserved to be alone and that it was better that way. It was true, I've been alone this entire time and I didn't want to change that.
Tired and defeated I climbed off of the bed and sat in the corner of the room where I laid my head against the wall and thought about the recent events before finally drifting to sleep.
Book 1 Chapter 4—01
Damien's POV
The moment I stepped out of the room I instantly regretted my words. She didn't seem dangerous at all in my eyes, she was powerful indeed but she was also just scared, who knows how long she's been alone as a rogue and I was trying to force the pack life onto her.
The moment I laid eyes on her I knew she was the one for me. She had beautiful long jet black hair with a unique white streak that seemed slightly unkempt and unbrushed from her days of being in the forest alone. Despite her dirty face you could see the slightly faded freckles along her nose and cheeks, some plastered up her nose bridge and onto her forehead. Thought she seemed a little malnourished and wore loose fitted clothes you could still make out the accentuated curves of her body. Her eyes were what stood out to me were her big and round bright green eyes. Despite her cold attitude her eyes told a different story, they said that she was actually a sweet person who was just scared and used to living on their own out in the cold world.
Her wolf was just as beautiful as her. It was a rare pure white wolf that towered over the others as mine does, her strength and speed seemed unmatched as those bright green eyes loomed over her enemy and I could sense from her that she was also an Alpha born.
I looked up to notice that my Beta Blake was still standing outside of the door in the hallway with a shocked expression plastered all over his face.
"Sorry Blake, it was uncalled for to snap on you like that, when I imagined finally meeting my mate I didn't think she would be the one rejecting me," I sighed in a defeated manner.
"That's why you're keeping her in the pack house?! That rogue is your mate?!" He asked surprised.
I merely nodded.
"Well based off of the shouting I just heard I imagine she isn't thrilled with the news right now," Blake said.
"Why wouldn't she want me? I haven't done anything to show her I'm not worth the energy, she's just sitting there rejecting me," I shook my head.
"If it helps Alpha I believe her backpack is still left in the forest from when she shifted to attempt to escape from us, maybe it could give you a clue as to who she is," Blake suggested.
"Fetch someone to go out and grab it for me, maybe there is something in there that will tell me about her besides her name," I ordered.
"Yes Alpha," Blake bowed before walking away.
This girl was peculiar, all my life this was all she wolves dreamt about, finally finding their mate, their one and only and a lot of them hoped it would be with an Alpha. There were women begging for me to pick them but this one was different, she didn't care and she didn't react the same as to how others react to finding their mate. She said she would never stop trying to escape so that just meant I had to watch her every move, making sure she wouldn't run away from me.
'Iris...' I smiled at the thought of her name, it was so beautiful, just as beautiful as her. I was determined to persuade this woman to be mine.
******
I woke up with a sharp pain in my neck spreading down to my back as I realized I fell asleep on the floor with my head up against the war. I was so used to sleeping up in a tree this was almost foreign to me.
I remembered the events of last night, I finally found my mate but he was an Alpha......and he was an asshole. This man just screamed bad news to me.
There was a knock at the door before I heard it slowly opening so I stood up, preparing myself to attack the intruder. I wrapped the blanket around me tighter after realizing I was still naked and soon enough a young girl walked into the room, she had dark brown hair that stopped a little past her shoulders and wide deep blue eyes, similar to Damien's. Her face seemed young and fresh as she approached me with cautiousness, unsure of who I was.
"Um hi, my name is Danielle and I was told to bring these to you," She outstretched her arms, offering me the clean folded clothes in her hand.
I politely accepted them and quickly changed into them as she turned around to give me privacy.
"You're covered in dirt and mud but you're very pretty for a rogue," She said as she smiled.
"Thank you," I nodded to her.
"Did you dye your hair to make it look like that or something? My parents and my brother won't let me do anything to my hair," She said as she admired the white streaks in my hair.
"Does your brother happen to be Damien?" I frowned.
